Binge CMO to head up marketing and growth for Paramount

Louise Crompton has switched Binge for the ViacomCBS network and is to head up marketing for its new-look subscriber-based media streaming service, Paramount+.

A company spokesperson confirmed Crompton has joined the Paramount+ team as regional VP marketing and growth. Crompton has spent the last two years building up the Binge streaming service in Australia, which officially launched last May and is owned by Streamotion.

Prior to this, she spent more than nine years with the Expedia Group, initially as a senior marketing manager before being promoted to director of marketing for A/NZ. Her resume also includes agency side roles with One Digital and SP Partnerships.

Last week, ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand announced the Paramount+ subscription video streaming offering would arrive on Australian shores on 11 August 2021. The new service sees the group rebranding its 10 All Access offering.

According to the company, Paramount+ will offer wealth of premium entertainment content including programs from CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, Smithsonian Channel and Sony Pictures Television. The service is priced at $8.99 per month and includes more than 20,000 items.

To mark the debut locally, the company said it will offer season two of Australian drama, Five Bedrooms. Also on the cards from a local perspective and commencing production in coming months are Spreadsheet, Last King of The Cross and 6 Festivals.

A bunch of exclusive premieres have also been touted, including The First Lady featuring Gillian Anderson, Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer; Dexter featuring Michael C Hall; and Yellowjackets featuring Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci.

Announcing the Paramount+ offering last week, Viacom chief content officer and executive VP, Beverley McGarvey, bullishly stated the platform is designed to have something for everyone.

“We are poised to become as powerful a player in streaming as we are in television. By leveraging the iconic Paramount brand, leading edge infrastructure, along with an incredible super-sized pipeline of must-see content, Paramount+ will deliver an exceptional consumer entertainment experience,” she said.
